Farnley Country Park - a legacy
The overall aim is to create a legacy for the people of Huddersfield. One that has the potential to create jobs, increase tourism and economic development, and improve the health and wellbeing of local people by providing easy access to green space.
We've put together a short video that really brings to life our vision for the future of Farnley Estates. Click here to see what we'd like to make happen for the people of Huddersfield.
Thank you to everyone who gave up their time to take part in the video.
Tourism in Yorkshire is worth £7 billion each year with 216 million visits to the region annually. Yet in Kirklees and Calderdale combined, tourism accounts for just 3.3% of the economy. If Kirklees can attract an additional 1% of the spend from Yorkshire's tourist market, it would bring an additional £70 million pounds to the local economy each year.
We believe that this is potentially one of the biggest changes that Huddersfield has seen in its history. It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to open up this stunning part of the world for the benefit of local people.
